The US Embassy in Manila explained that this new project aligns with the United States’ objective of empowering organizations in promoting human rights and democracy.

USAID Philippines Acting Mission Director Rebekah Eubanks reiterated why human rights groups need defense against cybersecurity threats:

Sitting at wooden benches, men and women stack tobacco leaves in one hand –- the components must be dry but soft, like the velvety texture of leather.

“Cyber resilience is not just about protecting data. It is about ensuring that democracy defenders can continue their vital work without fear of digital interference.”

“This initiative reflects USAID’s commitment to fostering a safe and open digital space for civil society.”

Other government agencies are also building the Philippines’ cybersecurity.

For instance, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and other public and private sector partners launched Protecta Fintech.

It’s an agreement among numerous fintech companies to bolster the protection of the Philippines’ digital financial ecosystem.
