MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) nabbed a high-profile German fugitive wanted in her country for sex crimes.
Evangeline Schmidt, 48, was arrested in Quezon City on Nov. 8 at the request of the German government, Immigration Commissioner Joel Viado said in a statement on Sunday.

Schmidt, who is the subject of an Interpol red notice, is currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City while undergoing deportation proceedings, the bureau said. —Jane Bautista
